How can I prevent getting cavities?
It can be very frustrating for patients when they consistently get cavities in their teeth. Here are some tips for preventing decay and improving your oral health.

Genetics
Genetics is an important factor that we often feel we have no control over. However, it is important to understand our genetic make up (Did your mom and dad have all their teeth?), and use that information to make better dietary, lifestyle, and hygiene choices to prevent dental cavities.
Regular Dental Checkups
Regular dental checkups are crucial to prevent small problems from becoming big problems. At a minimum, you should be seeing your dentist at least two times a year.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Below are some common questions we receive regarding our General Dental services
Why was I recommended a deep cleaning instead of a normal cleaning?
When you begin to develop tartar beneath the gums, it leads to bone loss. In order to remove the tartar beneath the gums and disinfect the gum pockets, we will need to use local anesthesia to numb your gums and teeth and clean everything beneath the surface to prevent further bone loss.
Should I use mouthwash after brushing my teeth?
We recommend avoiding the use of traditional mouth wash. Most mouthwashes are acidic and destroy the good and bad bacteria in your mouth rather than help balance the bacteria. We recommend rinsing with warm water and salt instead of mouthwash.
Why are my teeth so sensitive?
Tooth sensitivity can be caused by multiple different things. One of the most common causes of sensitivity is gum recession. When the gum recedes, the root of the tooth is exposed which does not have the protective enamel coating. We recommend scheduling a consultation so we can get to the root cause of your tooth sensitivity.
What is the best way to whiten my teeth?
We offer different types of teeth whitening. The most popular is our in office Phillips ZOOM® whitening. It is a 90 minute in office whitening where your teeth can get up to 7 shades whiter. We also offer Opalescence® take home whitening. We make you custom fit trays that you wear at night and load with your provided whitening syringe.
Do you accept insurance?
We are in-network with Delta Dental PPO and accept all PPO dental insurances. We will do our best to determine your estimated co-pay prior to treatment. For patients not in-network, we will make every attempt to maximize your insurance reimbursement. We will make every effort to provide you with affordable, convenient financial options. You are responsible for all fees charged by this office regardless of insurance coverage.
